Community Initiatives
At Pelangi, each and every person is valuable, both within the school and in the local community. We believe in working together as a team to help others and ourselves.
It is important to us to teach our children the value of giving back through programs such as our free English classes for the children of Kumbuh village, where the children come to understand the merits of providing the gift of education to families in financial need.
Children are also encouraged to get involved in school community projects such as looking after the organic gardens or helping with small building projects, for example creating beautiful ceramic mosaics in the classrooms.
The older children have their own council where they have the opportunity to share their ideas and listen to others, learning how to work creatively as a team as well as developing essential problem-solving skills.
Parents, too, are invited to share their special skills, time or energy and be involved in our school programs. They are encouraged to join the Parent Board, where they can have a say in how they feel the school can best meet the needs of their children.
Through our Sponsor a Local Child Program, Pelangi offers the opportunity to sponsor a local child, giving them the benefit of a holistic, bilingual education.

The Pelangi community also runs a variety of fund raising initiatives to help support the school including:

Join Ubud residents for this parent created Holisic Lifestyle Festival to raise money for the scholarship program at Pelangi School. There will be a variety of healers on site donating their time for sessions, an ayurvedic spa of sorts; yoga, dance and meditation classes and a swimming pool (so bring your bathers!). Join is for a night out on the First Friday of each month. A chance for all parents and friends to socialize, eat and drink at one of Ubud's great restaurants or on campus while supporting the school. Click thru to read more.
Bake Sales will take place from time to time on campus, will all proceed's going back to the school.- :
Art in Action is an annual event put on by the parents of Pelangi School and Gaya Gallery in Ubud. The evening combines a Candlelit Dinner, Art Auction and live music.
