January 2011 — Welcome to the new year and a new school term. In keeping with the theme Pelangi is pleased to announce the building
of a brand new classroom, as well as the arrival of new students and a new teacher. Following this the second issue of the new parents' newsletter, Kabar Pelangi will be
published in English and Indonesian.
Don't forget our whole school meeting tomorrow at Bamboo cafe, kicking off at 9.00am. Next week on Tuesday January 25 the parent board will meet in the same place at a slightly earlier time of 8.45am – come join!
Parents asked us to share theirs and everyone's contacts to help put playdates together. If you're uncomfortable about sharing your personal contacts,
just email or drop by the office by January 30 to opt out.
As well as repairs and renovations throughout both campuses, a new classroom has been constructed on the big school campus to accommodate the growing classes
2 and 3. The TKB classroom has also been renovated during the holidays and also enlarged whilst the warung has been re-roofed.
We're encouraging all parents, pembantus and drivers to use the back road to the school (from Lodtunduh) rather than the steep road closest
to Ubud to arrive to the school. The building project has recently put black gravel on the road which is very slippery. We're trying to address this
with the head of the village and the project manager.
The school's Bamboo Cafe is serving up homemade juices and bites each day – now healthier and organic! Snack prices are back down to Rp 5,000 in response to feedback from parents.
Join the parent board to get more involved or to have more input into anything from the buildings to the curriculum, to the food served
in the warung. Come along to one of our meetings or contact us at our new email address parents@ pelangischoolbali.com
Please do use the boards by the warung and the office to promote any child-related activities or businesses.
We're delighted to announce that Veronika Nariswari will be joining Pelangi in February, initially teaching in TKA. Veronika was
born in Solo, Central Java, and taught at High/Scope International school in Jakarta for 6 years, before she moved to Bali. She joins us from Green School
where she has been teaching for the last two and a half years.
